Terminus Group Drives Digital Smart Transformation at the UAE’s Zayed Sports City

Terminus Group has recently announced a partnership with Ethara, a leading venue and event management operator in the UAE, to spearhead digital smart transformation driven by AIoT technologies for Zayed Sports City (ZSC) in Abu Dhabi. The collaboration aims to deliver an end-to-end full-stack AIoT solution, modernizing the venue’s operations in areas such as intelligent scheduling, event management, ticketing systems, and audience engagement. This initiative is also expected to significantly provide spectators with a more immersive and tech-enabled experience, marking a major step in the transformation of the iconic sports stadium.

ZSC, named after Sheikh Zayed, the first president of the UAE, is a national sports hub built in 1979. The multipurpose facility has hosted major international events, including the AFC Asian Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, and can accommodate over 40,000 spectators. It is also a site of historical significance for Chinese football fans, as the Chinese national team secured a 1-0 victory against the UAE during the 2001 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Widely regarded as one of the Middle East’s landmark for sports and entertainment, ZSC has been recognized as one of Asia’s greatest stadiums in the past three decades.

Following a renovation in 2009, ZSC is now set to undergo another milestone upgrade, this time focusing on smart technologies. Terminus Group’s AIoT solutions will enable ZSC to optimize its multipurpose offerings, enhance venue management, and introduce intelligent interactive systems. As the UAE’s largest sports complex, ZSC boasts a diverse range of facilities, including stadiums for international football and basketball events as well as facilities for ice hockey, tennis, and bowling, catering to both national competitions and mass sports activities.

To meet the diverse demands of such a multifunctional venue, Terminus Group and Ethara plan to implement AIoT solutions tailored to intelligent facility scheduling, event operations, ticketing, and audience engagement. The system will feature modules for smart venue management, event livestreaming, audience interaction, and seat navigation. This will not only improve operational efficiency but also enhance the overall spectator experience by offering more immersive and engaging ways to enjoy sports events.

In addition to this project, Terminus Group has collaborated with Ethara on the design of an intelligent management system for the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 circuit.
