Terminus Group Chief Scientist listed on Clarivate “Highly Cited Researchers” 2023 for six consecutive years

The 2023 list of “Highly Cited Researchers” had been revealed by the Web of Science (Clarivate), includes global leading researchers from academia and commercial organizations, who have a vital impact on their fields. Dr. Ling Shao, Chief Scientist of Terminus Group and President of Terminus International, had been named on the “Highly Cited Researchers” 2023 list. He had been on the list for six consecutive years since 2018.

6,849 individual researchers from institutions in 67 countries/regions have been named on this year’s Clarivate “Highly Cited Researchers” list. These individuals represent just 1 in 1,000 researchers globally. Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers™ which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science™ over the past decade. In the field of Engineering, 60 engineering scientists from mainland China have been selected on the list this year, and Dr. Ling Shao is the only researcher from technological and commercial company among them.

Dr. Ling Shao is an IEEE Fellow and internationally renowned scientist in the field of AI. He is responsible for overseeing Terminus Group’s AI R&D, as well as being president of Terminus International, leading the expansion of the company's global business.

Dr. Shao is also a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, the British Computer Society, and IET. Previously, he has served as CTO and Chief Scientist of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). From 2018 to 2021, he was the founding CEO and Chief Scientist of the UAE's Inception Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IIAI). He is also the initiator of the world's first AI university - Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

With over 500 scientific papers published and over 30 patents, Dr. Shao’s research findings applied to the fields of intelligent transportation, assistive/autonomous driving, intelligent interaction, robotics and more. His publications have been cited more than 54,000 times in Google Scholar. In April 2023, Dr. Shao honored with Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinguishment, the highest scientific recognition in the UAE, showcasing his invaluable contributions to society and the role in shaping the future through innovation and scientific research.
